Last Sunday, 2nd August, Alanna Drennan was competing in the National junior triathlon championships in Loughrea, Galway, in the 12-13 age category. Luckily the weather held up and the race went well. Alanna was 8th girl out of the water and after a strong cycle had moved up to 3rd position. On a flat, out and back run she was able to hold off her closest rival and finished 3rd girl overall. This is a strong improvement on her 5th placing last year and it is clear the hard training is paying off. Alanna's focus now changes to the National underage cycling champs at the end of August.

After 11 weeks of juvenile racing in the Fermoy league everyone has improved hugely and can be proud of their performances. Colm Treacy came 6th overall and Alanna Drennan came 3rd overall. Well done to Matthew and Pearce Broderick, Elloit Gravina, Colm Treacy, Adam and Luke O'Brien and Alanna & Rachel Drennan.

With the summer holidays in full swing the juveniles are training and racing hard. Training on Thursday evenings involves time trials and sprints which have helped us all to improve hugely for racing. The Fermoy league has been a great way for everyone to work on their times and the juveniles regularly racing are Matthew and Pearse Broderick, Elliot Gravina, Colm Treacy and Rachel and Alanna Drennan.

Everybody keeps improving each week which is fantastic and Alanna is currently in 3rd place on the leaderboard.

In triathlon news Alanna came 5th in the 12/13 age category in the National Aquathlon championships in Galway last weekend.

Thanks,

Rachel
